Jim Harbaugh On Darth Vader: "That's My Boy. He's a Jackhammer"

Freep – Dec 21 – Like thousands of other Americans, Jim Harbaugh spent his Thursday night trying to catch “Star Wars” on opening night.

The Michigan football coach took his two sons, Jay, U-M’s tight ends coach, and James, a U-M freshman, to the midnight show and enjoyed it — with one notable exception.

This was the first of the seven Star Wars movies that didn’t feature Darth Vader or Anakin Skywalker, Vader’s previous form. That disappointed Harbaugh.

“That’s my guy, that’s my boy,” Harbaugh told WXYZ-TV’s Brad Galli for their “Inside the Huddle” interview tonight. “Because I love him. I love Darth Vader. He’s just relentless, he’s a jackhammer. James Earl Jones, the voice of God. You would be disappointed if God did not have a better or equal voice to James Earl Jones.”

All I could think about reading this article was oh my god, can you imagine if Harbaugh was at the screening I blogged about yesterday? The one in California where the projector cut out at the beginning and skipped all the way to spoiler scenes at the end?

Holy shit. He’d rip that projectionist out of the booth and have him doing up-downs and running suicides up and down the stadium seating aisles for 48 hours straight. Probably put them both in full pads and run the Oklahoma Drill just to get all the extra anger and aggression out.

But, luckily for that young stoner, Coach Harbaugh was 2,500 miles away enjoying the film with his family with no problems to speak of. Well, other than the Jackhammer Darth Vader wasn’t in it.

Overall, Harbaugh gave the movie a high score.

“I was impressed, this was a good Star Wars,” he said. “But (without Darth Vader), not quite the same. I thought they would have found some way to get him back in there. He had a good run. They had the one shot of the new … I don’t want to give anything away.”
